Professional Learning Programs

In partnership with colleges and universities, the Centre offers practical education in the field of labour relations and human resources. Our professional learning programs equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to develop effective union-management relationships. Programs are available in both virtual and in person formats, and are taught by Canada’s leading labour relations scholars and practitioners. They combine theory, research and professional experience to provide an education that has immediate application in the workplace.

The programs result in a certificate confirming completion of the course. Topics covered include the following:

  • Effective union-management relationships
  • Collective bargaining
  • Grievance arbitration
  • Workplace harassment investigations

Skills Training Workshops

Skills training workshops are conducted in multiple locations across Canada. Each hands-on, interactive session is conducted by subject matter experts, who provide balanced viewpoints and legal expertise from both the union and management perspectives. These sessions focus on developing practical skills that will assist workplace parties in meeting their legal obligations.

Topics covered include:

  • Accommodating mental health disabilities
  • Medical information
  • Managing high conflict behaviour
